I am not much into internet tricks and this is a very simple,crude and limited method to find whether someone has blocked you or not compared to the pidgin method. (Gods of internet please forgive me for posting such a simple thing , lot of people may know about it already ) but still here’s what to do,
1.) this works only if you have been blocked for more than 24 hrs.
2.) make sure that the person is not online for 24 hrs
3.)goto password recovery page of Google
4.)enter his/her email account
5.)the next page is explains it all , but I’ll tell you ,if that person has logged in last 24 hrs. Google will tell you that a confirmation has been sent to your secondary mail, in that case the person has clearly blocked.

if he has really not logged in then it will ask you the security question.

so , basically by this method you can find out whether or not somebody was online for last 24 hrs or not.

I was just surfing on the world wide web where i read some articles about futuristics materials being developed around world and I must say I was mesmerized with the technology and the science that associated them.

have you ever thought of a material that can be 99.8% empty , super insulator , has super high surface area ,and still be tensile and strong. Well you should have a look over Aerogel or ‘frozen smoke’ as it is nicknamed.This material alone has 15 entries in the Guinness Book of Records.

Metamaterials would used in phased array optics, a technology that could render perfect holograms on a 2D display. These holograms would be so perfect that you could be standing 6 inches from the screen, looking into the “distance” with binoculars, and not even notice it’s a hologram.

3rd may 2014 , MNC bank

mr. Pandey ,the treasurer of  MNC, goes to open the safe to deposit the latest stock of money and assets that have just arrived. he crosses the corridor till he enters a narrow area leading to the safe,he is about to put the key in the lock but suddenly Shyam ,the peon, crashes to him with a tray of tea cups.The cups shatter , the tray flies away, Mr. Pandey falls on the floor and so does Shyam.

‘are you blind ?’

’sorry,sir!’

‘wat sorry, you soiled my shirt …. now what are you waiting for! lift your cups and get lost’

Mr.Pandey is in a really spoilt mood but Shyam smiles , he just got the safe key impression on a wax cake!!

Three shadows approach the window, the window has impedence alarms on them , even a minor fracture could trigger it. one shadow bends down , plays with the power sytems and sets off the alarm, another cuts through the glass silently

they approach the safe , now it’s the third shadow , he plugs in the key, everyone is exicited, they are about to gain assets woth crores,  but wait a secound , the key does not work ,it’s stuck

‘are you sure you copied the right key’

‘yes ‘

‘now what?’

suddenly a alarm starts ringing ,auxillary power systems takeover.

‘RUN!!!’

the shadows dart into the darkness and dissapear.

police stands with three handcuffed men , Shyam the peon , an ex-security guard and a wanted burglar ,the copy key is siezed and  everyone is baffled execpt Mr. Ray the chief security engineer who is smiling at his victory.

’so what should we do with this copy sir ‘ a police asks Mr. Ray.

‘your wish , if you want throw it away’

‘but sir wont it pose further thret to the bank if not destroyed’

‘do you think this key can open the lock ‘

‘it’s a exact replica of orignal and as far as i know MNC still prefers mechanical locks over digital ones’

‘the secound part of your statement is right but not the first ,it is mechanical lock but it’s key cant be copied. i’ll show you some thing , come with me.’

he brings out a key which looks totally different than the safe , inserts in the lock and opens it! Even more baffled people.

‘this is what we call a mirage key’ he announced,’ it’s a key made up  of  shape memory alloys which is given a form at some temprature, then it is brought to room temprature and then given another arbitarary  form by deforming it. The lock when opertated upon heats the key to that temprature.’

some understood, some didn’t but everyone heard ,mesmerized.

I apologize for being so overdue for this blog to my dearest readers but I think I will make up for it as what I am going write has not only technical but aesthetical and sentimental components involved in itself.

The technology of ancient India, the original technologies…

I week before I was reading about damask steel the hardest known steel for a few centuries and the technical aspects of the material ,you will be shocked to hear that this material has internally woven nanotubes and nanowires of carbon which are still the hardest material on earth and are difficult to produce even with modern technologies ,although it may be said that it was merely a chance that ancient metallurgists produced this kind of structures but still it would have required years of experiment and studies. By the way we have not been able to reconstruct this material again even with all our so called modern wonders.

Dr. A.P.J Kalam refers to a certain wall painting at NASA in his book wings of fire, it depicts two armies fighting each other and one of them is firing rockets at the other ,this picture has an Indian ambience and the ones firing rockets are not white but black , the legendary rockets of Tipu Sultan . Hence it was more than a century before Dr. Von Braun made V2 rockets for Germany during 2^nd world war we Indians were already using them .

Sultan’s rockets were made of iron tubes and bamboo strips .they could be used as incendiary or like flying scythes .Rockets could be of various sizes, but usually consisted of a tube of soft hammered iron about 8″ long and 1½ – 3″ diameter, closed at one end and strapped to a shaft of bamboo about 4ft. long. The iron tube acted as a combustion chamber and contained well packed black powder propellant. A rocket carrying about one pound of powder could travel almost 1,000 yards. The range of this system was 2.4 km approx. which is quite a good range when compared to European rockets which were built decades later.

Later after his defeat Tipu’s rockets were taken by British and they finally became a basis for the Congreve rockets of British army.

the Fastest Supercomputer in the world

IBM’s new Roadrunner supercomputer has smashed the high-tech equivalent of the four- minute mile by breaking the lofty petaflop barrier.

IBM said last week that the hybrid system running AMD Opteron processors and Cell chips sustained a speed of 1.026 quadrillion calculations per second, about twice as fast as the next-fastest supercomputer, IBM’s BlueGene/L. Don Grice, chief engineer of the Roadrunner project, said the petaflop barrier was surpassed on May 25, on the fourth attempt.

The $100 million Roadrunner would take a single week to run a calculation that the fastest supercomputer 10 years ago would have needed 20 years to complete, officials said.

The supercomputer will be shipped in July to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Los Alamos National Laboratory, which will use it to test nuclear weapons systems, predict long-term climate change and try to develop an HIV vaccine, among other things, said John Morrison, high-performance computing division leader.

Roadrunner’s price tag is $133 million. That’s because it’s reached a sustained speed of a quadrillion calculations per second, called a petaflop. IBM says it would take “a stack of laptops 1.5 miles high to equal Roadrunner’s performance.

The Linux-based Roadrunner has 6,948 dual-core Opterons on IBM LS21 blades, as well as 12,960 Cell processors on IBM QS22 blades. The machine, which has 80TB of memory, has 296 IBM BladeCenter H racks. It occupies 6,000 square feet, uses 57 miles of fiber-optic cable and weighs 500,000 pounds.

The Cell chips were designed jointly by IBM, Toshiba Corp. and Sony Corp. for the latter’s PlayStation 3 game console.
